MORE NEKKID ROWERS |
They may be the 2005 FISA Rowing Male Crew of the Year but as for the following picture, don't ask me, I haven't a clue...
A RIGHT ROWING AFFAIR |
Dan Sadler and Rebecca Ingledew got married last Saturday at the Bay Tree Hotel in Burford Oxfordshire. Becks first met Dan in October 1991 but it took them over 12 years to get together. By all accounts it was a terrific reception and the bride looked "Drop dead gorgeous".Both are accomplished rowers and Dan has rowed over 20 times at the HORR, at least 13 times at HRR, been captain of TSS, Upper Thames, Tyne and a member of UCL, Newcastle Uni and RGS Newcastle, and has, in his time, won Nat Champs gold, Home Countries bronze and BUSA gold.
His best man John Thicknes met Dan when he was racing at Durham Regatta with John's older brother. John who was 8 at the time (and in short trousers) was introduced to Dan who said "I hope you row better than your brother."...15 years later Dan would be back racing at Durham with John.
As the best man said "Dan has made lots of friends over the years with his dry wit and always manages to tell people what he thinks, no matter who he offends."
Becks rowed at St Peter's School, Newcasle Univ and Marlow (briefly) before settling at the Upper Thames scout hut, where's she's been for the last 7 years. She's won at Henley Women's in College 4+ but probably her fastest races were in a 2x with Naomi Ashcroft with whom she won at HWR and raced in a 4x at the Commonwealth Games.
Mr and Mrs Sadler who are honeymooning in Argentina gave guests a taste of the dance steps they have been practicing for the tango clubs of Buenos Aires.
LOST CONSONANTS? |
The slug was investigating Walbrook RC's boathouse recently, and was impressed to notice that they have an honours board for the members of the club who've achieved international colours. It's even been updated for 2005 and includes reference to one of their juniors who apparently took part in the "Home Counties" match.
Must have been a ding dong race between Essex and Hertfordshire...
HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO... |
An impressive, if slightly disturbing sight...150 Rowers dressed in Santa Claus outfits on the 5th annual Agecroft rowing club, Santa Claus Pub Crawl.
A very well organised and run event.
FUEL LEAK |
Tideway Scullers have had 4 or 5 petrol tanks full of petrol stolen from their locked fuel store twice in the last two weeks. The fuel is kept outside the boathouse in accordance with fire regs (as most clubs do) and their lock up is a conventional yellow covered metal store, which was seriously bent around to get the tanks out.
The fuel store at Scullers is actually not very obvious, so someone has really gone looking for it.
We Suggest you keep your tanks locked up and keep a look out incase this is the start of a trend...
